Transit Week is a time to celebrate transit and raise awareness about the importance of world class transit to the economic vitality, sustainability and health of New Orleans and the greater region.
Throughout Transit Week, Ride New Orleans will promote education and engagement in critical issues confronting transit riders and encourage New Orleanians to leave their cars at home and try transit.

Transfer Station Conversation
Did you know that more than 7,000 transit riders pass through the CBD transfer station daily? The RTA’s bus and streetcar system is designed so that the majority of routes do not cross Canal Street making transfers between uptown and downtown lines a necessity for most transit riders.
At the Canal Blvd transfer station in Lakeview, the RTA wants to extend the Canal Streetcar to facilitate easy transfers from the many buses that stop there. But neighborhood opposition threatens the project.
Ride New Orleans believes that transfer stations should be centrally located, facilitate easy connections and include design features such as ample shade and seating, information kiosks, next bus arrival signage, restrooms, concession areas and more.
Throughout Transit Week, Ride will have volunteers at the transfer station to have a transfer station conversation with riders.
We are looking for volunteers to help with our conversation. See shift dates, times and locations below. If you’re interested in helping out with rider outreach during Transit Week – shoot us an email at transitweek@rideneworleans.
