Transit Week

Transit Week 2011

In November 2010, Transport for NOLA hosted the first NOLA Transit Week. The event was wonderfully successful and now it’s time to do it again. Beginning on Sunday, November 6th, Transport for NOLA wants you to drop your car keys, hop on a streetcar, bus, ferry, or bicycle, and participate in the 2nd Annual NOLA Transit Week.

Transit Week is a challenge to all New Orleans area drivers to leave their cars at home and bike or take public transportation to school, work, or play at least once between Sunday, November 6th and Saturday, November 12th. Information about transit and the Transit Week 2011 Pledge can be found on our website. Additionally, all who take the challenge will be invited to complete an online survey, also located on our website, and share their experience and feedback on how to make it better with the Regional Transit Authority and other public agencies.

NOLA Transit Week is hosted by Transport for NOLA, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving alternative transportation options in New Orleans. Transport for NOLA advocates for transportation options as a public service and a public good for those who depend on transit because of age, income, or disability, and those who take it by choice.

Simply put, with buses, streetcars, ferries, and bikes easier than ever before to use in New Orleans, it’s time to save on gas and see the city from a fresh seat.

In addition to using public transit, there are several other activities that will be held in conjunction with NOLA Transit Week.

Take the Transit Week 2011 Pledge!
